Getriebekühler fur 2003 T4 Benzin 2.8L 6 Cyl ?

  • Many greetings from Canada

I have a Winnebago Rialta in Europe (deceased in the NL). It is a VW T4 6cyl petrol 2.8L auto transmission. Business deals I install a transmission cooler.

What is the best transmission cooler and buy where you?

    Excuse my German!

    In English:

I have a Winnebago Rialta is in storage in the NL. It is 2003 T4 with a 6 cyl 2.8l petrol engine with automatic transmission. Apparently the transmission can get very hot and most owners of this vehicle over here replace the stock transmission cooler with an aftermarket one that does a better job of cooling (Tru-Cool with Sonnax adapters).
I searched the forum for "transmission cooler, but this returned no results, so perhaps it is the wrong term? So - does anyone have any recommendations for a transmission cooler for my vehicle, and if so, where to buy it?

This is the one used over here:

    TRU-Cool

    Thank you very much,
    Frank in Toronto

  • Hi Frank from Toronto,
there was a Posting in the Forum about an additional cooler at an 1,9 Diesel for the Engine- oil. This Engine does not have an Oil-cooling System originally, but it runs very hot in Summer. As I remember there was a name of a company or a store selling such Things. Try to find it by searching for "Ölkühler" in the Forum, not in the Wiki. An other thing to try is, there are special Companys repairing only automatic transnissions. Ask them for help. TobiasABL;-)

  • Vien Dank Tobias und Georg.

Georg - the one in your picture is already on the T4. VW builds it with this cooler, but it is not sufficient. So I think the other company is closer.

I have changed yesterday the original coolwater cooling from the gearbox.
Original the coolingwater comes out of the engine, flow through the oilcooler and than through the transmission.
Now I get the cooling water directly from the big cooler at the front and put the water also directlyinto it. I will test it the next days and will present the new temperatures.

To see the Tread at my board you have to register.
At last: my english is not good, but I will do my very best.

    Hallo,
